Instrucciones para la creación de un fotolibro [Instructions for Creating a Photobook] proposes a reconsideration of the photobook through the superimposition of photography and text. Here, text functions as a signifier, as an image in its own right, removed from the act of reading. The text is deliberately false, drawing attention instead to the interaction between the negative of the paper and the positive of the ink. The images emerge from a selection of materials from a seamstress’s archive, which came into our hands after her death, together with objects from her sewing boxes: family photographs, threads, hooks, buttons, zips, and other remnants. This intimate archive becomes the starting point for a new reading of the image, space, and the construction of identity.
